How We Help Your Riding

The PBA has over 30 club-sponsored rides weekly, riding 4 days each week. Our rides were developed to provide riding opportunities for all experience levels. So, whether you just bought your first bike or are a seasoned veteran, we have a ride to meet your needs.

Developmental Rides

Our developmental rides are a great entry to our club. A few great benefits to our developmental rides are an introduction to the bike lane road system in and around Plano, a stair-step system to move up as your skills develop, and our no-drop policy for these rides, meaning that no rider is left behind. With this system in place, because all riders within a group are affected by a struggling rider, we ask that all new riders to our rides choose the ride below the one they feel is best suited to them until they can consistently complete that ride without feeling stressed at any point during the ride. This will ensure that all riders get the enjoyment from the ride that they were looking for. When you are able to successfully complete the ride without difficulty, the next step awaits you as your next challenge. Our developmental rides are not set up to be a final stop for riders, they are to set you up for your next challenge, the intermediate rides. Our developmental rides are as follows:
Novice1
Westside Novice*
McKinney Java**
Step-Up
B-squared
McKinney Fred**
Tweeners
Westside Advanced Tweeners*
Tuesday Night Girls Ride*
Wednesday Night C & D
Sunday Tempo
Sunday Caffeine Cruise***2

Intermediate Rides

Our intermediate rides are the core of our club. These rides prepare our riders for challenges outside our club, challenges like Hotter n' Hell and other events. Our DB, or Distance Building rides offer great opportunities to add skills like pacelining and endurance to your repertoire. While our ride leaders and sweepers do what they can to keep the group together, they are tasked with maintaining the integrity of the ride (keeping pace and distance within guidelines) over keeping everyone in the group. Therefore, riders are encouraged to either know the route, know how to get home, or have a sag plan in place. Our intermediate rides are as follows:
DB Recreation1
DB Lite
DB2
McKinney Tempo 50**
McKinney CAD Lite**
DB1
Fast Forty
Wednesday Night B
Sunday Bikes & Bagels

Advanced Rides

Our advanced rides are for our top-tier riders who can maintain speeds of over 20mph over a 50-100 mile route. These rides are challenging and riders should show the are able to complete our DB1 level ride consistently and easily before jumping into the advanced rides. Our advanced rides are as follows:
