Step-Up Ride for Saturday, November 23rd -- As of 7AM, 22 Nov the Saturday 8 AM temp is predicted to be 39F with 33F wind chill, so let's set a DELAYED  9:00 AM start time.  Temps at 9 AM predicted to be 44F with 39F wind chill, 0% rain chance, 8 mph winds from NW and 70% clear sky.  As always, check outside when you get up Saturday and if you think the actual weather might cause a change in our plans, check the PBA group Facebook page and this space.  Any needed further delay announcement will be posted by 7:20 AM.  If you don't see any further announcement by 7:30 AM, we're going at 9 AM.  (As always, announcements for all developmental rides -- of which Step-Up is one -- put out by Ron Shome, the PBA Ride Coordinator, supersedes whatever Step-Up ride leaders are posting, so look for anything from him as well).

The Step-Up Ride start area is at the Gulledge Elementary School (west side Preston Meadow just south of Legacy). Please sign-in 15 minutes prior to start (8:45 AM) for the pre-ride safety briefing so we'll be able to start as scheduled.   Please have checked and aired up your bike prior to the pre-ride briefing and remember helmet, water, and tire repair kit and dress for the expected conditions.  Due to the rains this week and inability to check the park on Friday, we'll use the park-by-pass Step-Up route, shown at the 2nd ridewithgps link below:

The Step-Up 31.3 mile normal route can be viewed at this link:    https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28626042
There is also a route we use if the path through Oak Point Park is questionable. That 31.2 mile park-bypass Step-Up route is at this link:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30852469
The actual route that Step-Up takes, between these two choices, on any particular day will be announced before the ride start.  Step-Up pace is a 13-14 mph avg speed over the route.  Rolling speed at any one point might be anywhere from 9 to 25 mph due to hills.  This is a no-drop ride.
