4:45 AM Saturday update post added to below original post:  CONFIRMING AN 8:00 AM START FOR STEP-UP ON SATURDAY DEC 7th; SIGN-IN 7:45 AM.  OAK POINT PARK TRAIL CHECKED GOOD FRIDAY, WE'LL USE NORMAL ROUTE.

As of 2 PM, 5 Dec, the forecast indicates we should be good for an 8 AM start on Saturday, Dec 7th:  0% chance of rain, winds 3 to 5 mph from NE, temps are predicted to be 43F, wind chill 40F, with 50% cloud cover.  As always, check the weather outside and weather forecast and if you think there should be any change in our plans, look for an announcement on this web page and the Facebook page.  If necessary, I'll post any change by 6:15 AM Saturday.  If you don't see a post by 6:30 AM then I'm headed to the start area and we'll call a go/no-go from there.  When on Facebook, any posts addressing all developmental rides -- of which Step-Up is one -- put out by Ron Shome, the PBA Ride Coordinator, supersedes whatever Step-Up ride leaders are posting.

The Step-Up Ride start area is at the Gulledge Elementary School (west side Preston Meadow just south of Legacy). Please sign-in 15 minutes prior to start for the pre-ride safety briefing so we'll be able to start as scheduled.   Please have checked and aired up your bike prior to the pre-ride briefing and remember helmet, water, and tire repair kit and dress for the expected conditions. I'll be checking Oak Point Park on Friday, and I expect we'll be using the normal Step-Up route, shown at the first ridewithgps link below:

The Step-Up 31.3 mile normal route can be viewed at this link:    https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28626042
There is also a route we use if the path through Oak Point Park is questionable. That 31.2 mile park-bypass Step-Up route is at this link:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30852469
The actual route that Step-Up takes, between these two choices, on any particular day will be announced before the ride start. Step-Up pace is a 13-14 mph avg speed over the route.  Rolling speed at any one point might be anywhere from 9 to 25 mph due to hills.  This is a no-drop ride.
