Weather Forecast for Saturday AM is OK -- 5-6 mph winds from the South, temps mid 70s to high 80s with very low chance of rain and a 25% cloud cover. There is higher than normal humidity predicted, so please hydrate well on Thursday and Friday to be ready for the heat. Please remember helmet, plenty of water and electrolytes, flat repair kit and check your bike chain and gearing for any needed adjustments and air up your tires just prior to forming up for the safety briefing which is at 7:15 AM at Gulledge Elementary (next to the south bound side of Preston Meadow just south of Legacy). Please be on time and we will start at 7:30 AM.
Our route will be a slight revision to the route Step-Up took last week. In the RideWithGPS PBA route library it is titled "SU 34.2 RidgeviewRolaterCoit" (link and web address for the route is below). It's 34.2 miles with a rest stop at 13.6 miles and a second "quick stop" at 27.8 miles. Step-Up always tries for a rolling average pace of 13 to 14.5 mph over the route distance. Speeds at any one time on the flats might be 16 - 18 mph, uphills as low as 9 mph, downhills as much as 25 mph. This is a developmental No Drop ride.
