Tempo 16.50 Riders,

The first ride for August is posted for registration and we are moving to a 7:29 a.m. start.  Please make sure you register for the  ride for which you intend to ride as there is a 16.50 and a 16.75 ride, they may be twins and they are similar but each ride is it’s own.

Ride Summary:

1.  Start:  Spring Creek and Coit (SC&C)

2.  Time:  7:29 a.m.   Note this is a change

3.  Distance:  41 miles

4.  Goals:  First, the main goal is to have a safe and fun ride.  Our performance goal is to make a 16.50 mph average as a group.

5.  No Drop:  This is a no drop ride.  Some riders tend push their limits on one of the Saturday rides and they don’t know which of their personalities will show up on Sunday.  We aren’t going to leave you on the side of the road and penalize you for giving your most on Saturday.  We start together and we finish together, it is a team.  Enough said!

6.  Route:  Winter route, humor intended!  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/35118515

7.  Weather:   While the wind is our friend, wet roads and cold temperatures are not.  Any changes to this ride will be posted on the calendar and this blog

8.  Difficulty:  This ride is normally a 11 Blueberry ride on the scale of difficulty,  but with the weather let’s call it a 33 this week.

9.    Safety:  It takes all riders working together for the  time (approximately 2.5 hours) we are together to make a fun and safe ride.

10.  Rest Stop:  Normally there is only one at about 25 miles.  However, if there is a need we will stop as many times as necessary.  There was a little chit-chat about keeping our stops clean this week on PBA you may want to review those comments

11.  The ride is limited to 16 riders by the Ride Leader.

12.  It is suggested that you get to the ride in sufficient time to properly prepare yourself.  But should you arrive after the ride preparation discussion/speech you may be dropped from the ride.

13.  Electronic registration is required.  If this ride fills up, the count will not be increased, review point #11.

14.  All PBA rules apply on this ride, please consider reviewing them if you have not in a while.

15.  Heat:  Yep, it doesn’t give second chances.  Prepare for the ride properly.  However, if during the ride you don’t feel well speak up, early!  You will know something is wrong long before your fellow riders will notice.  It is better to resolve problems early!

Goal:  Let’s expand a little on the ride goal, this section is expanded especially for those reviewing rides and trying to find “their” ride.  The goal of this ride is to finish with a 16.50 average.  To accomplish this we normally ride on the flats at 17-19, when the winds are favorable we do take advantage of them.  Enjoy the moment, we will pay the piper soon enough.  Also, with our prevailing winds either from the north or the south 1/2 the ride is going to be faster and half will be slower.  We are here to have fun!  BUT this is still a no drop ride and all riders have agreed at the start we start and finish together.

Suggestions and/or recommendations to improve this ride to make it safer, more fun, or in some other way better can be made as a comment below.
