Subject: PBA & Element3 Health Launch Club Reimbursement Program For Members
From: PBA President

Dear PBA Members:

The board is excited to announce that we have partnered with Element3 Health (E3H) to offer a new benefit to members. Next month, we will launch the Club Reimbursement Program, a Medicare Advantage benefit that pays clubs like PBA for eligible, member activities.

Clubs like PBA that have partnered with E3H have described their offering as a “renewable funding” source that helps attract new members and keep existing members active, healthy, loyal and engaged. By partnering with them, PBA will be able to cover the membership dues for eligible members that participate in the program and raise funds to offset our operational expenses and support club activities for our members. The program was designed to offer a benefit that members want, namely free involvement in club activities. In the fierce competition for “wellness extra benefits,” Medicare Advantage plans are looking beyond gyms to find fitness benefits that members will find desirable.

With more than 30 years of experience in healthcare, innovation and business development, the E3H team is poised to change the landscape of healthy aging. Only E3H has developed a unique, comprehensive approach to addressing $75 billion in preventable healthcare spending and all three determinants of health - physical, social and mental activity – as we age.

Studies have shown that 1) physical inactivity has been identified as the fourth leading risk factor for global mortality. 2) Social connections are closely related to well-being and personal happiness; and, 3) The more mental stimulation we get, the more likely we are to hold on to better brain-function, even as we age.

PBA Members who are covered by one of Element3 Health’s Medicare Advantage plan partners, which includes United Healthcare the largest Medicare Advantage insurers, can participate in the Club Reimbursement Program and earn money for your club.

All you need to do is provide your six-month activity report (manually enter or upload from your Garmin, Wahoo, smart phone, smart watch, or other device that tracks your activities) and register with E3H. They will check eligibility. If you are already a member of one of the MA plans which partners with E3H, the MA plan will pay your club every time you participate in an activity. Activities can include:

  • Rides: PBA, non-PBA (e.g., HH100, St. Jude's, Tour de Cure, Major Taylor, etc.), solo rides on the road or the trainer
  • PBA meetings and events: monthly PBA social event, Annual Bike Build, Memorial and Labor Day picnics, board meetings

Eligible members can earn $1 per activity, up to $10 per month or $120 per year.  This money will be paid to PBA in order to cover your monthly membership dues, raise funds to offset our operational expenses and support club activities for our members
